Lipodissolve

Until recently the treatment for collections of fatty tissue has been confined to surgical procedures such as liposuction. Although not a treatment for obesity, it can significantly reduce if not eliminate, unsightly accumulation of fat, giving pleasing improvements in body contour.

It may be applied to tissue below the eyes, chin and jowls, upper arms, chest and abdomen, love handles, buttocks and thigh.

Lipodissolve is the dissolving of fat using drugs administered by placement under the skin directly into the fatty tissue.

There is a lot of confusion concerning the terms lipodissolve or lipotherapy amd mosotherapy to the extent that the terms are often used interchangeably.  They are however very different techniques using different drugs applied by entirely different techniques and for different applications.

lipodissolve treatment uses a chemical caleed phosphatidylcholine also called lecithin. There has been considerable controversy recently concerning this treatment. Much of this stems from the government body called the medicines & healthcare products regulatory agency (MHRA) stance on this issue.

As a result of this, the medical insurance companies would not provide medical practitioners with insurance for this treatment. Recently, new insurance companies have emerged that are offering the appropriate insurance. This has allowed the re-emergence of the treatment in the UK, but its availability is still very restricted, the insurance premiums charged are extremly high, thus making the treatment rather expensive.

The history of lipodissolve
The cosmetic use of lipostabil (phosphatidylcholine) originated in italy. Its first use for such purposes was reported by an Italian physician names Sergio Maggiori, in 1988, he presented his work with phosphatidylcholine in the treatment of xanthelasmas (small soft yellow fatty accumulations on the eyelids).

The more recent popularity of the drug is widely accredited to a dermatologist, Patricia Rittes in the mid 1990"s with her publication of the use of phosphatidylcholine to help reduce fat pads beneath the eyes, she continues to be the world authority on this treatment.

The treatment now very popular in Australia, South America, a number of European countries and is rapidly gaining popularity in North America, specializes clinics have popped up already in L.A. (Hollywood)
